We have worked with the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies for some ten years looking at options for the expansion of their site overlooking Russell Square, allowing an extension of their current accommodation in the listed building on Bloomsbury Way designed by Denys Lasdun. The extension and transformation enabled improved facilities, including additional Library floor area, research office space, teaching and seminar rooms, dedicated computer suite for IALS Research Students, computer suites with state of the art Information, technology facilities, law book shop and café. The scheme seeks to respect the overall development mass of the area, enhance Russell Square by filling in the 'gap of the missing tooth', and complement the scale of the adjacent buildings on Russell Square.
